We took Jill to the doctor this afternoon for her 15 month wellness visit, and found out that she has gained only 2.5 ounces in the last three months. The doctor asked her if she was starting to lose some of her baby fat, then looked at her belly and legs and laughed. Nope, she's just as fat as ever! She has been sick this week. Wednesday morning brought a fever of 102 that didn't let up until Friday. She was really clingy and listless, not wanting to eat, just needing Mum Mum to hold her and rock in the rocking chair. Finally, the fever broke Friday morning, but she was pale and still not feeling well. Then on Saturday she got a rash that started on her tummy and moved up toward her face. I thought it was Roseola, and the doctor confirmed it today. The rash signals the end of the illness, so we're hopeful she'll be back to her old self soon. The doctor asked whether she is starting to say words and I told him she can say 55 of them. He laughed like he thought it was cute that I would say that, and then she started pointing to the animals on the wall, naming them and making their sounds. He was impressed.
She weighs 23 lbs. 2.5 ounces (56th percentile), is 30.75 inches tall (61st percentile), and her head is 48.5 inches around (97th percentile). She still has a big head! She got 3 shots including a flu shot. She was supposed to get 2 more, but the doctor wanted to give her only killed vaccines (no live ones) due to the fact that she is still fighting Roseola. So we're good now until she's 18 months old, except for the swine flu shot when it comes in next month. She DID NOT like the shots, and I think she got a good kick in to the nurse as she was getting her vaccines, poor baby. As soon as they were over we distracted her with some zucchini bread, and that seemed to work just fine.
Here is some video of her in the doctor's office going nuts with the roll of sanitary paper:

Last weekend Jill earned her first bandaid that didn't come as the result of a shot. She fell down and the spout from her sippy cup made a pretty impressive indentation on her forehead. After the crying stopped she didn't even notice the bandaid and let me leave it on her until bath time that night.

After that we paid a visit to Grammi and Pop in Olympia, (after stopping for apple fritters on the way, but there are no fritter pictures this time) and after Jill slept for the first two and a half hours we went down to the swings at the lake near their house and Jill had a great time.

On Monday we got to have dinner with the Moskals, meeting Mark and Owen for the first time. We went to Red Robin (Jannica's favorite) and then walked along the Des Moines waterfront. It was really cute to see how Jill and Owen are different (Jill shrieked and craved attention during the whole dinner whereas Owen was calm and quiet) and the same (Jannica and I both said, "No hitting," and "It's not uh oh if you throw it" within seconds of one another. It was also fun for Jill to be around a baby just about her same age (Owen is 5 weeks and 5 days older). He made her look small since he's so tall.

Finally, Steve took yesterday off work so we could become the newest members of the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. We chose this zoo over Woodland Park for several reasons. One, with Jill's naptime and traffic, it would be hard to get a good visit to Woodland Park without sitting through rush hour or missing out on her nap. Two, it's small enough that we can do the whole thing in one visit, even with Jill's short attention span. Three, parking is FREE (not really a big deal, but still a perk). Finally, four, since our family lives south, they can join us at this zoo much more easily than Woodland Park.

We had THE BEST time yesterday seeing the animals and eating ice cream. It was a nice leisurely afternoon and afterward Jill slept for 12.5 hours last night!!
