Jill had her 18 month check up today, and weighs in at 25.5 pounds, up more than 2 pounds from her last visit. This brings her weight back up to the 75th percentile. She is 32 inches tall (61st percentile), and that big head is still big, 19.3 inches (97th percentile). Because we were there on Saturday and she got a shot, she was NOT happy about today's visit, and screamed the ENTIRE time. She actually cried harder when the doctor was in the room than when she was getting the shots. Dr. K. says she looks great, she's very verbally advanced, and he recommended that we take her to a dermatologist for her rash, which he suspects is a virus, though one he admittedly hasn't seen before. We were relieved when he preemptively ruled out food and contact allergies.
At 18 months, Bean is adorable. She's loving, curious, she repeats EVERYTHING we say, and she's begun to show us her temper in the form of tantrums, but not very often and it's reasonably easy to talk her down from them most of the time. Favorite Sayings--she says LOTS more words, but these are the ones we hear most

We love our Bean, and we're so proud of her. Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

Christmas Eve brought us a visit from our good friend Kristina. She came to visit, play, and document our cookie making for Santa. (Thanks again!) We had a lot of fun with her, and making our cookie dough. After she left we rolled it out, baked and decorated them. We gave some to Santa, and some went with us to Grammi and Pop's house on Christmas Day. Everyone really liked them, and Daddy especially had a good time since he had never decorated cookies before! We also opened a couple of more presents! Jill got Woody from Toy Story, Daddy got popcorn bowls, and Mama got a necklace with Jill's name on it her birthstone, a pearl. Jill wrote her letter to Santa, and we put out cookies and milk for him, and an orange for his reindeer.

The next morning we saw that Santa had come, and by the end of the day Jill had gotten everything on her list, plus a lot more! Santa brought the family a blu-ray player, and two movies, "Star Trek," and "Up." We are very excited to have it, and we have already upgraded our Netflix account! We had blueberry pancakes, watched Daddy juggle, snuggled up to watch "Peter Pan," and had nap time.

After Jill's nap we headed to Grammi and Pop's house in Olympia where Jill got to see her extended family, and play with the good toys at their house. She had had enough present opening, and was overwhelmed by the number of people crammed into the living room to open gifts so she and Daddy pushed the grocery cart and did laps while Mama opened all of Jill's presents. She would NOT come into that loud, crowded room for ANYTHING! She didn't eat any dinner, and didn't sleep well that night either.

The next morning, the eczema outbreak we thought she had seemed to have exploded overnight, so we packed off to the doctor's office where we were kept waiting for way too long and were told that it's likely she has some kind of virus, but that he didn't know what it was, where she could have gotten it, or what caused it. We REALLY don't like that man. Thank goodness he's not our doctor! It was a super stressful, tearful, horrible trip, and it did NOT end quickly enough. Jill did get her 2nd H1N1 shot, so at least it wasn't a total waste. But between the shot and getting so worked up she didn't nap. For the first time in her life she stayed awake for 12 straight hours. She did okay, but took a 3 hour nap today!

So that's it, Christmas! Now we celebrate Jill's 18 month birthday tomorrow, and go to the doctor on Wednesday for her 18 month check up, at which time we'll see our doctor about her rash. We hope you all had wonderful Christmases too!
We packed a lot into the past couple of weeks before Christmas! We went to the zoo twice, once with Great-Grandma, and once with Daddy to see Zoolights. We didn't make it to Zoolights because someone whose name rhymes with "Hill" had a major meltdown and didn't want to stay there any longer. She did, however, have a great time running around the zoo at top speed.

Knowing about Jill's short attention span, we opened the presents from our out of town family and friends before Christmas. We did 1 or 2 each night, and you can see them below, including Jill thanking everyone. Pretty cute, though you can see how she gets sidetracked and doesn't really understand the concept of present opening yet.

We also found time to eat more pizza, sing, watch "Tee Two" (Toy Story 2), play in Mama and Daddy's bedroom/bathroom, throw some things away, and play with our toys. That takes us up to Christmas Eve, which you will be able to read about in the next post!

Jill found some stuffing from a dog toy on the floor and NEEDED to throw it away. She takes offense to things being out of place, drawers not being shut, and messes on the floor (unless she is the mess maker~she's fine with those ones).
Jill is loving this season just as much as we are. We went to get our tree last weekend, and we put it up while she was asleep. When she came down in the morning there was the tree, and she was mesmerized. She loves it, and she gets so excited when we plug the lights in at night (which at this time of year is about 4pm). "Tee!" she yells and touches it gently. It's very sweet.
She has also discovered (through her favorite tv shows) Santa. She knows he says, "Ho, ho, ho!" You can see her version of saying it in the video below, "Ho, ho!". We took her to see Santa yesterday, and she wasn't sure what to think. He was at the gift shop of our local nursery, which was great because it wasn't crowded. He was sitting right inside the door with no one around. Jill smiled really big when she saw him and said, "Ho,ho!" When he answered back, "Ho, ho, ho!" I thought she was going to go crazy from excitement. She didn't want to get too close, so we just walked around the store taking pictures, and coming back every so often. He knew her name, so it helped that he called out, "Hi Jill," every time we got close. The only bummer was that there was a CRAZY (totally white trash, smoker, nasty) woman carting her little dog around. The dog was dressed in a winter sweater and Santa hat, and every we got near Santa she would bring her dog which would start barking and Jill would get nervous. Then her even more white trash (I didn't think it was possible, but he was worse: mullet, Larry the Cable Guy T-shirt over a sweatshirt, ugh) husband came over and they chatted up Santa for a REALLY LONG time. The woman kept talking baby talk to her dog about how he was going to see Santa, "tomowwow." Puke! Wew hung around waiting for them to leave, and then Steve took a turn bringing Jill to Santa. He got right in there, way closer than I did, and sat her on his lap!!! I was not expecting that, and neither was Jill because we said we wouldn't force her, but Steve said he wanted me to have a picture. So I now have the stereotypical picture of my child sitting on Santa's lap, crying. Oh well, she didn't really cry in earnest, and she happily waved bye-bye to Santa, so I think she's fine.
Here are some tree, nursery, and Santa pics and videos.
