At two, Jill is a bundle of energy and fun. She speaks in phrases or full sentences, and gone are the days when you could have a conversation around her, because she listens to and comprehends most of what we say now.
She is still in love with Super Why! and WordWorld, but she has also discovered Sesame Street (she always watched it, but usually in the form of Play With Me Sesame, which is a shorter version with only muppets) and Chuggington. I LOVE that she loves Sesame Street as much as she does. It's fun to revisit it as an adult.
She's a bit of a picky eater, wanting nothing to do with meat in any form, unless it's pepperoni on a pizza, or a skinless uncured turkey hot dog. She'd much prefer to eat whole wheat pancakes with fresh blueberries for every meal, and she'd like her pancake covered in whipped cream, which she calls "hasheam" or "hot sheam." She loves fruit, hates veggies, worships Jell-o (with hasheam on it) and since her birthday as realized the yum factor of Gummi Bear Vitamins. We have never let her have candy of any type, or fruit snacks, so these are especially fabulous to her.
In typical 2 year old fashion, she's a little bossy, and tells us all the time what's going to happen next and what she wants. An exchange this morning for example:
Jill: Jill want gummi beah vimamin, Mom.
Me: Okay, what color do you want?
Jill: Jill hab wed, Daddy hab yewwow.
She even tells Daddy what he's going to have, right down the color bowl out of which he's going to eat his Jell-o. After each meal she says the following:
Jill: Mama wash dishes, Daddy Jill play bunny house.
The best part is, she's not wrong. After meals most times I do the dishes and she and Steve go and play with her dollhouse (which is inhabited by a family of bunnies instead of people).
She absolutely adores swimming in her new pool, playing with her water table, and being outside. She starts swimming lessons again on July 10th, and we're excited to do them. She is constantly asking to look at pictures of us from last fall's swim lessons and then she tells us she wants to go back. Her wish is granted!
She's still obsessed with reading, and we have already done enough summer reading for the library's summer reading program to have won 8 prizes. She just can't get enough of books, just like Mama!
Finally, she is OBSESSED with the dentist, thanks to an episode of Sesame Street. So, she's going to her first appointment on July 14th. They're not going to do a real exam, it's more of a get acquainted with the office type thing, and she is beside herself with excitement!
We sure love our 2 year old, and we're excited to see how big she is at her doctor appointment on the 13th. Here are some new photos and video of our big girl.
